สอบถามเรื่อง Error Analysis หน่อยครับ

คือตอนนี้ผมสงสัยสองข้ออะครับ
1. Although there are approximately 120 intensive language institutes in the United State in 1970, there are more than twice as many now.

ข้อนี้รู้สึกจะเฉลย คำว่า are เป็น were >> อันนี้ผมเข้าใจครับ แต่งงตรงที่ว่า approximately มันเป็น adv ไม่ใช่หรอครับ แล้วทำไมถึงไม่ผิด

2. Some U.S. government officials remain uncertain about how much damage may the inflation cause to the domestic economy of the United States.

ครับ ข้อนี้ไม่แน่ใจว่าตอบอะไร แต่ที่แน่ๆไม่ใช่ uncertain แต่ที่ผมสงสัยคือตรงนี้ล่ะครับ คือ remain มันเป็น v แต่ uncertain มันเป็น adj ทำไม uncertain ถึงไม่ต้องมี ly ละครับ
