English for Aviation Business II is divided into 2 sessions. First session we learned with Aj. Vorapat Kankaew who come from International College Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and he have a lot of knowledge about aviation. And second session, we learned with Aj. A-Karin Vorapornpitak, he comes from Finnair OYJ and Adecco Recruitment. This course is different from other English course because there is focus on into aviation content. In this course is studying that emphasize in English grammar and content of aviation at the same time. In first unit, I learned about airports and runways it make me let to known about airport component which divided into airside and landside areas and runway, taxiway and apron are included in airside, at all runways must have ground marking, standardized lighting and ground radar warning system for protection runway incursion, function of each jobs in the airport system, and avoiding miscommunication. After that we learned in Airline food that include preparation of airline food that is prepared on ground, food and beverage service that available in many choice depend on class of service. In air communications unit, I listened and pronunciation in ICAO alphabet and number. After that we are added in security in aviation, aviation technology – pilotless airplanes, and fuel consumption and environmental issues. Aj. Vorapat’s session not focus on substance about aviation only but he also provided knowledge about functional English – I am reviewed basic English grammar that is Tenses, concluding in function of tenses, words and phrase used for expressing preferences, possibility, probability, obligation, prohibited, and permission. Passive voice, prefix, preposition and new vocabulary both general and aviation term (specific words used in aviation filed) such as word about equipment used in the airport, food and drinks etc. also. Moreover, in last past he added aviation job interview tips, advice for interview that is useful for my future jobs. Next, I studied with Aj. A-Karin Vorapornpitak, this session we began on unit 7: In-Flight duties service, I got to know that every flights must be prepared and checked in the all procedures for security and safety, Pre-flight Inspection: Emergency Equipment Check and Security Check that be carried out before departure, next, Flight Preparation: Passenger Boarding, Cabin Secure Procedure, Door Arming (closing the airplane door), Passenger Safety Briefing and Demonstration, Cabin O.K. Check, Preparation to take-off and landing and In-Flight emergency and preparation for emergency, In-Flight service – cheese and wines, which cheese or wines match to foods and useful phrases that could enhance customer satisfaction are included to this unit. In unit 8: First Aid & Medical treatment. I learned in cabin crew responsibilities and action for treatment the patient – in step by step and take care of the deceased. In unit 9: On ground, we began in Ticketing & Reservation (Ticketing Agent and Reservation Agent who made a customer reservation or flight booking) and Information on ticket, Zulu time, Standard Time, Time different and GMT calculation are important knowledge that I got from this unit. In unit 10: Ground Operation, career position – responsibilities and skills and education necessary). Ground Service Equipment – equipment that support the aircraft at the airport). Unit 11: Passenger service at the airport, Check-in Procedures (operating of check-in staff), Department procedures, Boarding Gate Procedure, duties of customer service agent for arrival. Baggage service, Function of Baggage service (damaged, missing, pilferage). Discovering baggage system (world Tracer, matching found baggage with missing baggage), Procedure for mishandling baggage and property irregular report. Moreover, both sessions always added knowledge on English skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). They always advice for using English, and I also got other knowledge about aviation from video that they brought to presented. It made me easy to understand in content more, and they also shared their experiences to me. This course also supported working or studying in a group. Often they assigned content that our must shared and brainstorm in that content and presented to other friends. This process make me learned for working with other that is increasing my experiences. First, when I am a student important thing for obtaining knowledge is coming to the classroom that is got knowledge more than who miss the class, and must attend listen the teacher too. And important thing is maintaining my acquired knowledge. This course, quiz is encouraging student to read book, if there is not quiz everyone will not review in content, so quiz is one way that maintain my knowledge.
