An author who speaks about his own books is almost as bad as a mother who talks about her own children. Benjamin Disraeli

I tried smacking with my son (14 mo) because he was biting constantly and hitting us in the head with objects - it really hurt. (we tried smacking after he started this behaviour)

I've realised that the smacking didn't work at all. But I feel guilty that for the first months of him learning what not to do I was smacking him. It wasn't ALL day or anything or anything too hard. After i stopped smacking and telling him no, he really learnt. I just feel guilty for not knowing that this would work for him straight away.

Do you ever feel guilty for the mistakes you made or do you just learn from them?
