The King returns to the palace

His Majesty the King left Siriraj Hospital on Wednesday after making a "significant recovery" from 25 days of treatment. Hundreds of well-wishers in yellow shirts gathered at the hospital to get a glimpse of the world's longest-reining monarch.

His Majesty, wearing pink blazer and black trousers, left the hospital at 11.30am, with thousands of well-wishers shouting "Long Live the King" as he passed.

His Majesty, who was admitted on Oct 13 after experiencing weakness on the right of his body, was accompanied by members of the royal family, including Her Majesty the Queen and their eldest child, Princess Ubolratana.

Before leaving the hospital, His Majesty, moving on his own with the help of a walker, paid respect to the statutes of his late father and mother situated in the hall of the hospital.

He was scheduled to return to Chitralada Palace, where thousands of Thais lined along the motorcade route to get a glimpse of the 79-year-old monarch.

In its latest statement, the Royal Household Bureau said that the royal medical team advised the monarch to continue physical exercise to regain muscle strength after his release from hospital.
